Forgiven Not Forgotten - The Corrs

The Corrs
Miscellaneous
Forgiven, Not Forgotten

All alone, staring on
Watching our life go by
When our days are grey
and our nights are black
Different shades of mundane
And the one-eyed furry toy
that lies upon the bed
has often heard us cry
and heard us whisper out a name
long forgiven, but not forgotten
.
(Chorus)
You're forgiven not forgotten
You're forgiven not forgotten
You're forgiven not forgotten
You're not forgotten
.
[ The Corrs Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
A bleeding heart torn apart
Left on an icy grave
And the room where we
once sit, face to face
Nothing could get in our way
but now the memories of the man
are haunting our days
And the craving never fades

We're still dreaming of the man
long forgiven, but not forgotten
.
(Chorus)
.
Still alone, staring on
Wishing our life goodbye
As we go searching for the man
long forgiven, but not forgotten
.
(Chorus)

I came home from a meeting this night and I had to put this for the record.

Have you ever been in a situation where a relationship that you thought you have were simply not there. If you felt that you have one then you would be excused if you felt betrayed. More so when the psychic pain is brought about by investments, on your part, of monies, time, and effort.

And because the relationship is symbiotic in nature, or mutually exploitative, whichever you prefer, there is no possibility of a break away. Impossible? What? You do not believe that a relationship cannot be broken? Well, there are some relationships which cannot be broken; filial and sibling relationships come to mind. Then there are bonds of friendship which you can only break at your peril. Some things are just not done and breaking friendships is one of them.

So you do what most of us would do; forgive and forget, yes? No! Forgive, yes. But forget you may not, not because your memory is elephantine, but because you may want to remember the elasticity of tolerance in that friendship; like how much you trust him with your money.

As for the song, the pronouns were judiciously replaced to convey another meaning to the song but I guess one can always change the pronouns to suit one's purpose. Here again, life imitates art, and one can always look for hidden meanings in anything. So what am I trying to say? The answer, if one cares to look closer, is in the song. Haha.

  3. Salam from Kak Su . Welcome to the blogging world.
A suggestion : The script on a black background makes it more difficult to read for older folks like me . Either make the words bolder or change the background

  6. My apologies. Should have known at the outset because why would anyone send salaams to the missus unless one is a she. Missus said she knows you but then she knows everybody.
